Rustic Wood Furniture

After all the crazy weather we've had the past couple months, sadly, some of my parents' most beloved trees came down on their property. However my boyfriend, the aspiring woodworker that he is, saw opportunity with the "tree remains" and loaded (literally) stumps worth of the cut down wood into his car to re-purpose. He was very ooh la la about the cherry wood. Now... what to do with all that wood?! I've compiled some "rustic wood" furniture ideas for him and you to peruse. Any ideas?

Monsters!

The most recent addition to our living room... appropriate, I'd say.

DIY Inspiration

My favorite LA-er just sent me her most recent DIY project and I couldn't help but post it. This past weekend a friend of ours dropped off this piece for her to take in and refurbish for her apartment. It had a cracked mirror encased, chipping paint, and was about to be tossed in the trash. So she disassembled it, took out the mirror and replaced it with a vintage floral fabric, and repainted the wood. Home Depot is the best and mixed her a "Rolling Hills" shade of green for only $2.99. A typical can like this will paint about a 4x6 area. Then she just nailed it all back together and hung it up in her kitchen! What an awesome weekend project. I love it! Well done, bud!

I would really love to see more peoples' DIY projects, so please send them my way at ccethompson@gmail.com and I'd be delighted to feature it. Happy Tuesday!

Painted Wood Floors

There are some hardwood floors that it can literally be considered an actual crime to paint over... the wood is too rich, too rare, or too unique. But in other instances, there's really something to be said for painted wood floors. I LOVE the look of a crisp, glossy, white coat of paint on wood paneled floors. My aunt used this technique in my cousins' bedroom when they were growing up, and I always thought it was so pretty. I found some of these examples here. Here. Here. Here. Here. Here. And here.

SO Excited!

Wall Art Arrangements

I need inspiration. I'm knee deep in figuring out what to do with our new living room walls. The possibilities are endless!... (Well, not really. The space actually is pretty limiting, which is making this search all the more intriguing and frustrating!) My roommates think I'm nuts. Which do you like?

Love in Philadelphia

Favorite fact about my old stomping grounds - Philadelphia is the most mural-ed city in the world. So when I saw this "love" mural initiative happening in Philadelphia, it just made me fall more madly in love with the city. I hope you enjoy what has just made my day. If you're ever in the area, do check these out. So beautiful.
