With almost 5 months under my belt out west, thought it was about time to finally pick up and say hello to my old girlfriend, BeeBee. It's been awhile. Practically the longest stretch we've gone since our love affair began that we haven't "talked". We've made amends though. Had a long chat. Hugged it out. She's not mad. Truth is, moving cross country and starting a new life and a new job is actually a HUGE adjustment. WHO KNEW?! I think I had this idea in my mind that things would just magically fall into place when I moved out here. While many important aspects of my life did, what still has me trippin' these days are those nonsense, daily, little, life-routine happies that make a "place" a "home". I use this example a lot, and it may sound a bit foolish, but seriously... my kingdom for that little happy nail salon I used to go to on the corner of 3rd and 22nd after those late week nights at work or those early Sunday mornings when all I needed were pretty toes and an hour to myself. Or that corner bodega that always said hello and always knew to have my no sodium seltzer stocked and chilled. I think what I'm missing most is that local familiarity. That difference between a "place" and a "home". It'll come, I'm sure... but definitely an adjustment for sure.
The million dollar question though. Am I happy I moved here? Without a doubt.
Sorry it's been so long since my last post. Perhaps "Bringin BeeBee Back" will be just that familiarity I need. She's always been good like that.
